What is CHIEF?

CHIEF is the Carl Hankey International Education Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization created to support Hankey’s IB programs, a requirement of the IB World organization to qualify Hankey K-8.

The IB program at Hankey costs $45,000 every year. This money raised pays for elementary Spanish classes and middle school design classes as well as IB materials and teacher training. The Carl Hankey community pays for these programs ourselves through CHIEF. We need to raise $125 for each student to keep the IB programs going and prospering.

Help us to keep the IB programs going and prospering with an online donation.

Welcome Back Hankey Families (2025-2026)!

We’re excited to see our Hawks back on campus this year! With your financial help, the IB program will continue to enrich our students at Carl Hankey Elementary and Middle School. IB exposure at the elementary and middle school prepares our students for the Capistrano Valley High School IB program. Carl Hankey is one of the few elementary schools offering a language program, providing students with an early start in multilingual education. IB middle schoolers are 34% more likely to take advanced courses in high school. In high school, the acceptance rate of IB students into universities is significantly higher!

Middle School Registration

Thank you to all the families who stopped by the CHIEF table during middle school registration. CHIEF pays for the Middle School Design class. This class is held quarterly and students get to design for a real world scenario! Design in middle school is part of the required IB curriculum, and CUSD does not cover the cost. Parent donations are collected and go directly to pay for the class.

Welcome Back Hankey Families (2024-2025)!

We are so excited to welcome our Hawks on campus this 2024-2024 school year. With your help, we are bringing back and improving upon the IB programs that have allowed Hankey students to prosper and thrive in the classroom and our greater community.

The IB program at Hankey costs in excess of $50,000 per year and is self-funded by the Hankey community. CHIEF must fundraise approximately $125 per child to ensure the continuation of our IB programs.

Donating today, in any amount you can give, keeps our programs thriving and is a great way to kick off the new year.
